Generations have loved and passed down the pashmina. Understandably. Ultra-fine cashmere, made possible by the unique constellation of conditions found at 4500m in Ladakh; then elevated into an art form by age-old hand crafting in Kashmir. However, over the years, as kind as the world has been to the pashmina, it has also been unfaithful to the name - with aspirants sometimes using it to describe any shawl or any cashmere. At DIL SAAZII, when we set out to reintroduce the true pashmina to your wardrobe, we saw a potentially easier path in giving it a new name, or simply calling it 100% cashmere. We elected instead, to embrace this name and carry forth its cultural weight, while reframing its narrative and gently steering design for our today.
