The Banarasi textile, is named after the ancient city where it is has been handwoven for over 2000 years. It was originally reserved for Indian aristocracy and royalty, who loved it for the reason they loved most craft - its visual deception. The untrained eye may think the pattern is printed on the surface but it is actually an astonishing feat in its craft, each ‘pixel’ mapped and woven by hand to form a pattern. The Banarasi was also revered as jewellery in textile form, historically woven with threads of pure gold and silver.

As the Banarasi absorbed the influences of every culture that passed through its ancient city, so too do we influence its form—reshaping it from its historic unconstructed form, into Nordic-inspired shirts defined by clarity of cut, restraint, and balanced proportions.
